There was a package on the front porch this afternoon. Since nothing had been ordered recently, it could only mean that the replacement kitchen scale had arrived. There was something different about this box. It had a couple prominent "Fragile Handle with Care" labels. The new scale is intact and it weighs things. The wait is over.

Here's a picture of my new kitchen scale. You might remember it arrived in less than perfect condition.
The kitchen scale arrived this morning, but was damaged and does not work at all. They're going to send a replacement, but since it's not in stock it will take a couple more weeks. Of interesting note, as part of our disposable economy, the mail order company isn't requiring a return of the broken scale, suggesting it just be discarded. I smell a dissection project (after a brief attempt to fix it).
I blame Laurel for making me look at the Viceversa site so I could properly answer her question. Of course I couldn't leave the site without browsing and I saw their Tix digital scale, which got me to thinking that the buttons on the current scale are getting very finicky, so I Googled "Tix digital scale", which got me this result at Ciao! Italy, on which I spied the lovely new Soehnle 65055, which I ordered from HomeClick for $35 (including shipping). Isn't it pretty? It claims to have a capacity of 11 pounds with 0.05 ounce increments. Kumquats and lychees not included.

One of the more fun (and noticeable) items in the Voodoo Knife Holder. It was actually spotted in the background of a recent Vox hunt.
While I find the Ball Whisk amusing, I can't say that it has really seen much use.
Finally, all is right again in the kitchen with the purchase of some Callebaut Dark Chocolate (70.4% Cocoa). The dollar bill is for scale because it's a little bigger than your standard chocolate bar.
