Photos from a week in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom, mostly spent at the Craftsbury Outdoor Center learning how to scull. No, I'd never sculled before, but I figured what could be bad about spending a week by a remote pond during peak foliage season? The answer, of course, was "nothing".

Leaves have definitely started to turn colors around here, just in time for Columbus Day weekend. Tour busses were out in full force. One of the goals for the day was to get some pictures. I'd spotted a nice maple near the Polaroid building during an earlier drive, so that was my first destination. Within the couple minutes that it took me to get out of the car and take the first picture a security guard drove up, rolled down his window, and told me I couldn't take pictures on the grounds. Apparently the tree, being in such close proximity to the building, has learned some vital secrets of the Polaroid Corporation. Since the guard was such a jerk (of course he pulled over and made sure I left the premises), I'm sharing a picture of the tree so now everyone will know all of Polaroid's upcoming plans.
Next stop was a quiet little area along the Charles River in Waltham. There's nothing like being able to get some good reflections with the colors. The swans were an unexpected bonus.
