Political Decisions
Living in Massachusetts, I sometimes feel like it doesn't matter whether I vote (but I always do). Other than a few recent Governors, we pretty much always vote for the Democrats. During Clinton's re-election year I used my primary vote to select the Republican candidate I could hopefully stand in the event that Clinton wasn't re-elected. This year I'm trying to decide whether I should cast my vote in the Democratic or Republican primary. I know the leading Democratic contenders have different values and ideas, but let's face it, campaign promises are often forgotten and I'd be happy with any of them over what we've got now. It seems to me that helping the Republican candidate I find least offensive might be a better use for my vote. I know some people might say to vote for the weakest Republican candidate so there isn't a strong contender against the Democrats, but that could backfire. Based on past election results, I don't have faith in the American public not to vote an idiot into office.
Am I completely nuts?
