Thanks all. The camera's a Nikon 8800 with a telephoto extender, which give it a zoom of almost 600mm. The camera produces some good results for a high-end "point and shoot", but has drawbacks like poor manual focus so once the eclipse entered totality the camera could no longer focus on the moon.
